Product Review- Giovanni’s Direct Leave-in Weightless Moisture Conditioner

GIOVANNI DIRECT LEAVE IN COND - 8.5 ozHola!  Hope that your Saturday is going great so far!  I just wanted to do a quick review on my experience I had with Giovanni’s Direct Leave-in Weightless Moisture Conditioner.  On scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give it a 8!  This conditioner is very light which is great if you like to layer on gel (i like to use Ecostyler Olive Oil gel).  It also does calm down the frizzies a bit when smoothed on lightly through each hair strand (kinda like shingling).  The ultimate of course is moisture; it does hydrate the hair quite well which is mostly because of it’s organic ingredients:

Aqua (Purifed) Water, Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Oil, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil, Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Oil, Birch Leaf (Butela Alba) Oil, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower) Oil, Clary (Salvia Sclarea), Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia), Coltsfoot Leaf (Tussilago Fargara), Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) Oil, Mallow (Malya Sylvestris), Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil, Soybean Protein (Glycine Soja), Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Tocopherol (*Vitamin E), Trace Minerals, Citric Acid (Corn), Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Grapefruit Seed (Citrus Derived)

I know that they have a Tea Tree version of some sort that I think that I will try next.  Have any of you guys tried this conditioner?  If so, what was your experience with this product?  Do tell…

Product Review: Deva Curl Set It Free Moisture Lock

Hola!  Welcome to the weekend and it is going to be a hot one (atleast here in the Northeast).  However with heat comes high humidity and you know what that means…..FRIZZ!  I have to say normally I work with my hair and let it take the lead whether it decides to be curly, wavy, kinky, or frizzy–but now that it is growing it seems that the frizz has some serious staying power.  It can be very frustrating from time to time so to try and combat that I picked up Deva Curl Set It Free Moisture Lock at my fave beauty store, Ricky’s for $15.  If you aren’t a NY local then check out their site www.devaconcepts.com or you can purchase on amazon.com

Here’s what the Deva Curl’s site had to say about this product:

Put an end to frizz with this 24-48 hour moisture lock for long-lasting hold. Made with shine-enhancing Beeswax and Olive Oil and scented with zesty lemon-lime.

For high frizz factor, spray on wet hair, then again on dry hair. Or spray Set It Free in the palms of your hands and scrunch on dry hair

Ingredients:  Aqueous Extracts of: Achilea Millefolium, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Cymbopogon Schoenanthus, Humulus Lupulus (Hops), Melissa Offcinalis (Balm Mint), Rosmarinus Offcinalis (Rosemary), Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Isopropyl Myristate, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkylmethacrylate Copolymer, Ceteareth-20, PVP, Beeswax, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Lipids, Sodium Hydroxide, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance.

Ok, for me this product was about a 5 on a scale of 1-10.  Yesterday was my first time using it so it came out ok and the results were pretty much right on as they stated.  I only gave it a 5 because I think that I would have benefited more had I used it on freshly washed hair.  I was short on time so I only rewet my hair, used my own “refresh spritz mix” and then applied Set It Free.  It did give my hair a very light hold, my curls were definitely popping,  and it did tame the frizz some but not enough. I will say that I will be giving this product another try but I will do it the right way.  As we all know being natural makes us all unique so this may or may not work for you, so please keep that in mind when trying it out. I didn’t take pics this time but with my next go around I will be sure to post them.   Has anyone else tried this or any of the other products in the Deva Curl line?  What do you do to fight frizz, if at all?  Do tell….

Name Your Top 5 Summer Wardrobe Picks

Hola!  I hope that your weekend is off to a good start.  I thought since we talked about  “Name Your Top 5 Hair Products” it is only natural that we talk about clothes!  However, I must confess that I do love clothes but my true obsession is accessories (but that is another post)…right now it is all about the 5 must haves.  Here goes for me:

1. Jeans—I cannot stress enough how necessary it is for me to have a good pair of jeans.  My daily wardrobe usually consists of them with a cute top and sandals/boots.  Although I love my skinnies, I have completely fallen for these 7 for Mankind Dojo Flip Flop Jeans.  They have a laid back relaxed fit that is perfect for summer when you don’t want jeans too tight.

2/3. Tees and Tank tops—Very rarely do I wear tank tops alone but it is a staple for me when layering.  I love to have a smooth silhouette under my summer tees so I wear lightweight  slub ones with a tank underneath.  It is a perfect ensemble that can be worn with jeans (of course) skirts and shorts.  My favs…Splendid 1×1 Tank Top and T by Alexander Wang Classic Pocket Tee.

4.  Dresses—Nothing says summer like a sundress!  If you don’t know by now summer is my fav season–the warm weather just does something to me!  There are always tons of colors/prints/patterns each year so if you want a summer classic I would stick with a typical sheath dress.  This style has a flattering fit on most body types and it can be dressed up or down depending on the accessories/shoes. I love this Marc New York Blue Sheath.  To take a walk on the wildside I’m also digging Joie’s Mazira Dress  and Thread Social Tulip Print Dress.

5. SkortsI couldn’t decide between shorts or skirts so I pick skorts;o)  Idk I have always liked them and felt more comfortable in them than shorts.  They allow me to have the freedom of shorts but the look of a skirt–fab concept!  I need these–ADAM Pleated Skort and Tibi Mini Skort.

So do tell—what are your 5 picks??
