Fashion News—Michael Kors is now in the Billionaire’s Club

Hola!  Fashion designer Michael Kors just joined the billionaire’s club.  Yesterday shares of his company, Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. (KORS) rose 17.3 percent to close at $89.91 the highest in almost two years.  The newfound billionaire owns about 2 percent of the company which values at about $390 million.  Bloomberg’s data states that “Kors has collected more than $700 million selling stock since its initial public offering in 2011”.  Now that is some serious coin!

The sales of his handbags, watches, and footwear are keeping Michael Kors on top!  I wish his business nothing but the best, however keep a watchful eye on stocks because we all know what goes up must come down.  Thoughts?

This is Major: IMG Says Many Bloggers Will Not Be Invited to Fashion Week Next Season

Hola peeps! Things that make you go hummmm. I get where they are coming from but aren’t bloggers a part of the next generation of getting the fashion news out there quickly? What your are thoughts? Sound off!

StyleCaster

Here’s some news that may not surprise but probably does delight actual fashion editors and buyers: Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director for IMG (the company that heads up Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week), recently gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal in which she revealed that as of next season, many of the surplus fashion bloggers currently being invited to shows will not be invited to return.

“Fashion Week was becoming a zoo,” Bennett told them. “What used to be a platform for established designers to debut their collections to select media and buyers has developed into a cluttered, often cost-prohibitive and exhausting period for our industry to effectively do business,” according to a press release.

Hola!  As of late there has been several shakeups in the magazine business; Eva Chen is the new editor of Lucky, Kristine Welker was recently named vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer of Dr. Oz magazine and now Shiona Turini is going to Cosmo.  If you do not know who she is then you have been living under a fashion rock!

Turini’s professional resume features some of the most sought after magazine jobs in industry–she was fashion market and beauty director at CR Fashion Book.  Previous to that she held the position of accessories director at Teen Vogue and before that her role was accessories market editor at W.  Wow—I live my fashion life vicariously through her!  She is always on the scene and being papped in the finest digs, I just know that she will attribute a cool new vibe to the magazine.

I can’t wait to see what she has in store as it may make me an avid Cosmo reader once again.  Congrats Shiona!

Fashion Insider on the Move—If the Shoe Fits…SJP x Manolo Blahnik

Hola!  Happy Friday!  We all remember how shoe-crazy Carrie Bradshaw was on SATC, she loved her Manolos.  Well it is only befitting that Sarah Jessica Parker team up with the famed designer to create her own shoe line perfectly named—SJP.  Yippy!  The pumps and flats (a little less extravagant than Carrie’s collection) will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom early next year and will be priced between $200-$300.

It doesn’t end there, Sarah Jessica and George Malkemus, the CEO of Manolo Blahnik will also be launching a line of handbags and trench coats.  The bags will sell at under $700.  This is what she told Vogue about the collection:

“We’re putting new colors together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet,” Parker told  Vogue.com.

Manolo Blahnik Actress Sarah Jessica Parker treats herself to a special shoe shopping outing to the Manolo Blahnik store in New York City, where she was given a special private room for her shopping experience. .
I don’t think that this is a handbag from her collection but it surely is cute with the personalized monogram.

Are you as excited as we are?  I can’t wait to see the collection.  Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/fashion/sarah-jessica-parker-launching-shoe-line-article-1.1365997#ixzz2VYNa582L
