Events—Motions & Essence Fearless Style Lounge

Hola peeps!  Last Wednesday I attended the Fearless Style Lounge which was sponsored by Essence Magazine and Motions hair care.  The event was hosted by Pamela Edwards-Christiani, Essence Beauty and Style Director and Ursula Stephen, Motions Celebrity Stylist (ahem think of RiRi’s pixie cut–she did that).  It was the perfect way to end a very hectic NYFW!  I had great time and left with some great new hairstyle ideas to try.  Take a peek at the pics…enjoy!

Celebrity hairstylist and Global Ambassador for Motions South Africa Ursula Stephen doing a fierce braided updo on a client.
Bun knots (or so I call it)–this is another fun style created by Ursula.
This client’s braids were transformed into a big twisted bun.
My friend Sade (@afrochicas) curls were elevated with side twists and picked out to add volume.

Thoughts on these looks?  Are you planning on trying any of these styles?  Do tell!

2014 Grammy Awards Recap—Best Dressed, Hot Hair and Fresh Face

Hola peeps!  I hope that you had a great weekend, I did despite the snowy weather.  Did you watch the Grammy’s last night with the rest of the world?  Well no fear if you didn’t I am sharing my best dressed, hot hair and fresh face of the night.  So here goes!

BEST DRESSED—I couldn’t decide so it’s a tie between Queen Bey and Chrissy Teigen.

The Carters---Jay in Tom Ford and Bey in Micheal Costello #grammys
After a hot performance with her husband, Mrs Carter stunned the crowd in a white lace dress designed by Project Runway alum Michael Costello.

I love that Chrisette Michele strayed from the crowd of bleach blonde bobs and rocked her cropped natural curlz. So chic! She is wearing a printed Etro suit.

Fresh Face—Miss Pretty Katy Perry!

Katy Perry’s fresh face is perfect, she does have on makeup but it is not overly done. It is just the right amount of everything which brings out her gorgeous features (especially those big eyes). I wonder if her pretty hurts? lol She is wearing a tulle dress by Valentino.

There you have it all of my picks!  Now share your thoughts…who got your votes of the night?  Do tell!

My Birthday and Broadway!

Hola peeps!  I don’t mean to brag or boast but today is MY BIRTHDAY! Normally I don’t make a big deal out of it but I must thank GOD for another year of life!  There has been some highs and lows; yet I’m grateful and looking forward to many more years!

This past weekend I had a pre-celebration with my beau.  He surprised me with a fab dinner and a Broadway musical–After Midnight.  It is set in Harlem in the 1930s–the jazz age of the Cotton Club and more!  The fab Fantasia and talented Dule Hill were the guest stars; Wynton Marsalis was the artistic director for Jazz at the Lincoln Center (the orchestra).  I cannot leave out the wonderful job Isabel Toledo did on the costumes, they were simply gorgeous.  Ok that’s it I won’t give it all away but trust me it is a MUST see!

Well that’s all for now, I’m off to enjoy my official birthday!  Enjoy your day!

Events—The Beauty Soiree Part 2 Recap

Hola!  This past weekend I had the honor of being on the Hair Me Out panel at my friend’s (Sade of 1Girl Boutique) event—The Beauty Soiree Part 2.  It was held at the New York Foundation for the Arts in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn.  The space was filled with lots of fab natural haired ladies and beauty.  We had a great time sharing our personal hair stories, talking about products and more.  Coming up in another post I will share the video footage but for now take a peek at the pics below.  Enjoy!

Events—Styled for Fall: Fossil at VOGUE

130924-117Hola!  Earlier this week I was lucky enough to attend Styled for Fall: Fossil at VOGUE. I must admit I squealed at the thought of going to the Vogue offices (so Carrie Bradshaw-ish)!  As soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted and noticed the wonderful display of handbags and accessories.  There were pops of color, leopard print and flashes of metallic!  Fossil is definitely becoming more fashion forward which is a great move for the brand.

Loving these colors of the Sydney Satchel, Memoir Novella Flap, Memoir Haircalf Diary Clutch and Sydney Shopper.
We were getting schooled on the functionality of each bag.

This was one of my faves—Memoir Biography Satchel!

The accessories didn’t disappoint either—Chelsey-silver and Florence Rose Gold watches.

After the presentation we were able to use the clothing they pulled from the VOGUE closet and style them with Fossil accessories.  The challenge was: Seeing Spots-accessorize with animal prints, Stack in Style-mix and match bracelets and Heat Things Up-add bold warm hues to your wardrobe.  Take a peek at the look I styled and let me know what you think.

I opted for a sophisticated black and white ensemble paired with the cheetah print Memoir Biography Satchel, stacked bracelets and Georgia Coral Leather watch.

It’s all in the details!

This was such a fun event!  I wish much more success to Fossil and look forward to attending more events with VOGUE!  If you are yearning for more check out Instagram and Twitter using these hashtags #FossilStyle and #FossilatVOGUE.  Enjoy!
