Product Review—Let’s Jam! Custard Cream Gel

product imageHola peeps!  Today I am sharing a product review of the new Let’s Jam! Custard Cream Gel.  It has been awhile since I have focused on my hair or the products so now is the perfect time.  Back in my relaxed days I would use the original Let’s Jam! Gel to keep my edges smooth and it did the job so I was eager to try this on my natural curlz.  I stumbled upon the jar in Rite Aid and it was less than $5 so I thought why not.

The product description reads: Ideal for smoothing and controlling ponytails and fly-aways without weighing down hair.  Ingredients:  Aqua (Water) , Glycerin , Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean Oil) , Polysorbate 80 , Triethanolamine , Oleth-2 , Carbomer , Phenoxyethanol , Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 , Fragrance , VP , Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate Copolymer , Polyquaternium-39 , Limonene , Sodium Benzoate , Methylisothiazolinone , Hydroxycitronellal , Geraniol , Amyl Cinnamal , Linalool , CI 17200 (Red 33)

My damp hair without product.

I started off with my usual wash and condition.  Then I lightly spritzed my hair with my “refresh mix” (h2o x essentials oils) for a little moisture.  As you can see from the pic above my hair is multi-textured—frizzy, wavy, kinky, curly, and coily.  I know some naturals do and don’t like to hair type, I could care less about that because I feel my hair doesn’t really fit any of them anyway…lol.  To me my hair is weird and I sometimes gets frustrated with it (yet I do adore my curlz), I truly think that I need a cut and that will solve most issues…we shall see.

My hair with Let’s Jam! Custard Cream Gel.

Next I worked in the Let’s Jam! Custard Cream Gel throughout my hair.  I didn’t make perfect sections nor used a brush; I basically grabbed a handful of hair and used my fingers to saturate the product into the my tresses.  Sorry I don’t have an after pic but once all in I let my hair air dry. To my surprise my curlz were soft and touchable with a light hold.

Pros: tremendous slip, no sticky residue and tremendous shine!

Cons: takes forever to dry and the scent isn’t my fave

Overall rate: 7 (scale of 1-10)

I like this product yet I will definitely have to give it another try.  The price point won’t break the bank, the ingredients are ok and it pretty much did what it said it would.  My thoughts to you give it a try!  Will you?

  1. I ‘m going to see if I can find that for Arianna. I have no idea what to by for her hair because we are on a budget she uses what I use. WEll I’m using the Shine I bought for her. LOL Having a hard time trying to tame her frizzies!
Trying to get her to wear her curls but she says it gets fuzzy plus she wants the curls with length but she needs to learn it takes time.

    1. Hi! Yeah definitely check it out. You should be able to find it at Rite Aid, Walgreens or maybe even Walmart. It keeps the hair very moisturized for quite a few days. It also depends on how you are going to use it–I did a regular wash and go. I think for Arianna’s hair it would be good to use on a twist out–wash her hair then add the product in, twist her hair and then untwist in the morning. If you want to try using rollers on the ends so that they are smooth and will curl. It would look so pretty. Let me know if you try it out 🙂

Sound Off Peeps...what do you think?
