Hola! So, did you guys watch the BET Awards last night? I must admit normally I don’t watch the full show but this time it was a bit different. Eager to see the Whitney Houston tribute (everyone had been waiting/talking about it) and a glimpse of Bey and Jay (love them!) I planted myself in front of the tube and tuned in! Well, if you missed it I am going to touch on my version of a recap—Best in Show. Overall I wasn’t wowed by the celebs’ choices of fashion for the night so I am focusing in on the best performances (IMO), a bit of hair and anything else that caught my eye. I hope you enjoy
Monica Brown—one of the best performances of the night. She sang her heart out during the Whitney Houston tribute and looked gorgeous doing so in a dress from the 2010 collection of the late Alexander McQueen.
Chaka Khan also sang a song for the tribute and she looked equally as fab! Check the slim figure and that hair—beautiful! She is giving the young and old a run for their money—we all should take note…being healthy does a body GOOD!
Power couple—Jay and Bey! All smiles…happiness is the key to a great relationship and you just can’t hate on that!
Awe look at the sistas—cute! Love that bright fuschia on Solange, oh and the Poetic Justice braids (that you really can’t see in this pic)!
A shame—it’s a shame how beautiful Elle Varner is! Peep the curlz–honey is fly!
VA homie D’Angelo made his first appearance in 12 years. He sounded the same which was good, yet failed in the wardrobe department. A slick suit and a little moisturizer on the natural fro would have stepped up his game. Whateves…glad to hear his voice again!
Frankie Beverly and Maze brought the smooth grooves to the show. They still got! He won the Lifetime Achievement Award–congrats!
Tyrese performed one of Frankie Beverly’s songs during the tribute to him. He cleans up nice and sounded great!
There you have it! This pretty much sums up my highlights of the night. What about you…who was your fave? Do tell…

Hola peeps! Sorry as I have been M.I.A. a lot as of late. I promise once I get a grasp on things posts will resume on the reg, until then I hope that you continue to swing by and enjoy SNC.
Now on to today’s post—my fave pics from Beyonce’s new Tumblr. I am sure that you all have seen them somewhere as when she released them almost 2 weeks ago the web went crazy. I just wanted to share a few that really stood out to me. I love the pic with her and Solo—nothing like having a sisterly bond. The second make me do a double take because I need every single ring that she is wearing. The last photo I adore! Jay and Bey together are major powerhouses; both are at the top of their game, they have a genuine love and everyone wants a piece of them. Enjoy!
Hola! Ok, so at first I wasn’t going to watch the VMA’s but I fell victim to it via twitter **follow me**. I am kinda glad I did or else I would have missed out on Beyoncé’s announcement and Jay-Z’s proud papi moment—BJ on the way! Congrats are in order to them both. I also couldn’t help but notice that the color Red made quite an appearance tonight on the mommy-to-be as well as the guys—Justin Beiber and Pitbull. Not sure if I am liking this trend of red pants for guys, although I thought that Kanye rocked them pretty well here. Check out the pics below. Did you watch? What was your highlight of the night?
Bey rubbing the belly...awe cute!
Congrats to Mr and Mrs. Carter!
Justin Bieber in RED pants...not to be mean but he is just so awkward.

Hola! If you love J (yes I call him “J”..lol) as much as I do then you will definitely want to pick up his new book DECODED. He sold out Brooklyn Museum where he had an interview with Charlie Rose to discuss exactly what the book is about. Well, what is it about you may ask?? Growing up BK style, lyrics, philanthropy and more…but that is what I think so far as I read snippets here and there. But don’t take just take my word for it, here is an excerpt of what he had to say about his book:
“Decoded is first and foremost, a book of rhymes, which is ironic because I don’t actually write my rhymes–they come to me in my head and I record them. The book is packed with the stories from my life that are the foundation of my lyrics–stories about coming up in the streets of Brooklyn in the 80′s and 90′s, stories about becoming an artist and entrepreneur and discovering worlds that I never dreamed existed when I was a kid. But it always comes back to the rhymes. There’s poetry in hip-hop lyrics–not just mine, but in the work of all the great hip-hop artists, from KRS-One and Rakim to Biggie and Pac to a hundred emcees on a hundred corners all over the world that you’ve never heard of.”
