NYFW—William Okpo F/W 2013

Hola!  Yes NYFW has ended but I have plenty of reviews in store for you. First up is the fun and innovative line—William Okpo.  The designers are super cool sisters Darlene and Lizzie.  This was not a traditional fashion show but a presentation in which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The F/W 2013 collection had muted colors filled with lots of patterns and textures.  It was a mixture of lady-like preppy with button shirts and pencil skirts to casual and sporty with varsity style jackets. My fave piece was the uber-luxe fur jacket (not sure if it is faux) shown in the first pic.  The makeup was fairly simple with thick dark brows and red pouty lips.  I loved that big messy buns ruled the hair for the night!

This line is young and fun…perfect for hipsters!  What are your thoughts?  Do tell.

MFW—Missoni SS2013

Hola!  Hope all is good with ya.  I must say I never understood why we *fashion crowd* always say “fashion week“ when we all know it should be fashion MONTH.  It’s start’s with New York, to London, Milan and ending with Paris…whew!  NYFW alone exhausts me yet I can’t wait to travel abroad to shows.  However, today we are featuring Milan Fashion Week‘s own Missoni.  This collection is absolutely gorgeous!  Sequins, beading, contoured bright colors…love! Take a look and let me know what you think.  Enjoy!

2011 Reflections

Hola peeps!  Well here we are the last day of 2011 and it feels so good!  Time to give thanks for all the past blessings and looking forward to the ones to come.  This year has been a whirlwind for SNC but I am so happy that you guys have stuck with me through it all.  I was looking back at pics that I took this year and there are tons that didn’t make it to the blog and/or the facebook fan page *btw if you aren’t a fb fan by now then you are really missing out*.  So I thought why not share them now—a perfect way for you to see some behind the scenes shots at shows, a peek into my personal style and the hair ‘dos that I rock on occassion.

I hope that you enjoy my reflecting back and urge you to share some of your moments as well.  What worked or didn’t work for you this year—fashion or hair?  Don’t be shy the only way that we can learn from one another is to share the experience.  Here’s to a great 2012 year head!!

NYFW Fall 2011—-Rebecca Minkoff

Hola peeps! Fashion Week is in full swing and so far all good.  There has been lots of fine tailoring that was shown at Jason Wu, to bold minimalism done by Stella McCartney and one of my personal faves—boho/chic at Rebecca Minkoff.  I just love her clothing and accessories.  The fabrics, textiles, and colors used in her collection is so right on for now and later when Fall rolls around.   My RM handbag is one of my prized possesession that I will never part with!  Check out the show and let me know if you heart it as much as I do.  Enjoy!

Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} Recap

Hola mi gentes!  Last night I attended the fab “I AM BROOKLYN” 2nd Edition Brooklyn Fashion Week {end} Spring/Summer 2011 show at Bedstuy Mansion (a lovely brownstone).  I was delighted when I got the invite because last year I wasn’t able to attend, so this year was a must go!  The event was hosted by Brooklyn Fashion and MacFue Fashion & Lifestyle Market (South Africa).  The theme of the night was “Living in America”, as all the designers were African born but currently living in America.  Silk, embroidery, sequins, linen and african prints all adorned the collections of the designers– Raif Atelier, Washington Roberts, and Lea Mono.

The vibe of the evening was warm and very inviting, yet funky/fresh too!  Fashionable folk filled the room–young, old and in between.  I had a great time and I look forward to attending next year’s show; thank you for the invite.  To top the night off all proceeds donated or otherwise went to Brooklyn Style Foundation “STITCH FOR SUCCESS”  program and Paul Robeson Theater renovation drive.

So let’s get to it— enjoy the pics!

Spring 2011 Queens Fashion Week Recap- Part I

Hola!  I must say I have been enjoying my little blogging break yet I did miss it too.  The events  of NYFW  has been exciting and very invigorating for me on a professional and personal level.  I have fallen in love all over again with fashion and all (good and bad) that comes with it.  Queens Fashion Week was icing on the cake, it is always great to see raw talent and they had plenty of it.  All of the upcoming designers represented the borough of Queens (except one that was from London).

I have a ton of pics and I am debating on whether I should add another page to the blog as a photo gallery or set them up on YouTube as a video…do you guys have any suggestions?  In the meantime I hope that you enjoy the pics, since there are so many I will be separating them in parts these are from the first night.  Be sure to let me know what you think of QFW!

I’m Tickled Pink….

Hola!  I hope that your week is going great.  Well you know that I have been gearing up for fashion week with posts about FNO and such, I am delighted to say that I am going to a show!  I received an invite (confirmation) to attend the show for FARAI’s NYFW Spring 2011 CollectionFarai Simoyi is a  London-born Zimbabwean designer, she grew up in West Virginia and later moved to NYC where she currently resides.  This collection is a reflection of her emerging onto the American fashion scene.  Her designs are filled with colors, prints, and African inspired patterns.  On  Sunday evening I am expecting to have lots of fun, see some great designs, and mingle with the fashion crowd.  Until I am able to post pics check her site www.faraisimoyi.com and blog http://fashionfarai.wordpress.com/ for more info.

**SN: My hair in this pic I think is a day old twist out.  They never really work on my hair as they always turn out frizzy and dry looking to me.  What do you think?  Any suggestions on how to get a great twist out?
