NYFW Designer Pick—Zac Posen

Hola peeps!  We are quickly approaching the end of fashion week, tomorrow is the last day…boooo!  As tiring as it can be NYFW is one of my fave times of the year in the city.  However, don’t fret because I am attending Couture Fashion Week and Don’Christian Laurence shows this weekend so stay tuned.

Moving along to today’s designer pick—Zac Posen.  I adore his designs so much because they are always ultra-glam!  His Fall 2012 collection gave us just that with a lean towards the East with an asian inspired theme; gorgeous gowns in luxe fabrics and colors seem to float down the runway.  I envision many celebs will be adorned in a Posen frock come award season in the Fall.  Love love.  Enjoy!

NYFW Recap—Nolcha Fashion Week

NYFW Designer Pick Day 4—Diane Von Furstenberg

Hola!  Today is the 5th day of NYFW and we are still going strong!  However, let’s take a peek at my fave from day 4—Diane Von Furstenberg.  I must first say that Ms. DVF looked fab on the runway, chic as always.  This collection is much different from what we are used to seeing from her; as there were tons of color-blocking, puzzle pieces prints, and leather elbow length gloves all stood out on the runway.  I am lusting over all of the brights!  I say why wait until Fall I see these color combos in my Spring wardrobe line-up.  What are your thoughts?

Von Furstenberg RF12 5080

Diane looking extra fab in color-block!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4887

Love this Aqua and Red color combo!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4845

This yellow is beaming hot!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4874

Black with a splash of metallic---I can dig it!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4817

It wouldn't be DVF without fun prints!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4784

This pant suit is giving me life---although I think I would rock it with a hot red high heel!

Von Furstenberg RF12 4963
Fuschia pants + apple green halter = yum!

NYFW Designer Pick Day 2—Rebecca Minkoff

Hola peeps!  Well we are on the third day of fashion week but we must review Day 2.  My fave designer pick is Rebecca Minkoff!  If you frequent this site you know that we are HUGE fans.  Her Fall 2012 collection didn’t disappoint as usual—rich color tones, python skins, and sophisticated silhouettes were strutted down the runway all while Theophilis London rocked the fashion crowd.  RM is always on point for the modern city girl on the go.  Love Love!  Check out the vid…

NYFW Designer Pick Day 1—BCBG

Hola peeps!  Happy Friday!  New York Fashion Week is officially underway and here is my top designer pick from yesterday which was Day 1—BCBGMax Azria’s collection consisted of vibrant colors, flowy colorblocked garbs, fur and tone-toned trench coats.  I think that this collection is very wearable for the everyday woman and the price points aren’t that bad to be designer.  Take a look and share your thoughts.  Enjoy!

Designer Spotlight—Farai Simoyi

Hola peeps!  I am so excited because today I have a fab interview with designer Farai Simoyi to share with you guys!  If you are a devoted follower of SNC then I am sure you have seen pics of her gorgeous designs before here.  NYFW S/S12 was the third time I have had the pleasure of viewing a collection of hers (Desert Oasis was this year’s theme) and each time I am in awe of her talent.  I love that she used tons of colors, various fabrics and colorful braids in this year’s show.  After the fashion week rush calmed down I reached out to find a little more about Farai and she graciously obliged.  Enjoy!

***Tell us about your background—when did you start designing or better yet how did you get your start?
I started learning & experimenting with design when I was a young child. My Mum, Aunts, & Grandmother all used to make their own clothing and my Aunt actually ended up opening her own lingerie company. When I was 5 years old, at the early stages of my Aunts company, I used to play in her factory and she would always give me scraps of fabric with needle & thread, which kept me occupied for hours, as I would make little skirts and dresses for me and my dolls.
***Where do you get your inspiration from for your designs?
I gain most of my inspiration from my background and everything that defines not only me, but others that can relate. I am Zimbabwean & I am British born so when I design I like to look into the history of my roots and draw my initial inspirations from those aspects, but then I like to integrate vintage & modern appeal.
***What is your 5 year plan for your brand–expansion into stores, more products such as handbags/shoes?  Do tell…
I have a daily plan, weekly plan, 1 year plan, 10 year plan…and I am working very hard to achieve all the dreams & goals I have for the brand. I hope you will all stay tuned and will follow me on this journey…you will not be disappointed!!
***What is on your Fall fashion radar, your must have for the season?
Scarves…long scarves, chunky scarves, knitted scarves those are heavy on my radar for fall. A simple sweater, a great pair of jeans, and some great platform boots, then pair it with an amazing scarf and you are all set!
***I see that you are natural (yippy!) can you share a bit about your regimen or your fave product?
Yes! I love my hair. I wash my hair with an Olive Oil based Shampoo, then I condition with a cap with Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque. Then I use the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie as a leave in and style!

NYFW Spring 2012—Walter

Hola peeps!  We’re at mid-week which means the weekend is near!  Today I am sharing my pics from NYFW SP12—Walter.  This fab presentation was held on a beautiful day on the Rooftop Hotel Empire.  The atmosphere was glorious—models, fashion and drinks.  What more can a girl ask for?!?  I had the opportunity to talk with the designer himself about the collection which was filled with bright colors, classic pieces and fun prints/patterns.  There are quite a few looks that I need to put on my Spring wish list.  Enjoy the pics!

Here I am chatting with designer Walter Baker about his gorgeous collection.

Sheer, airy fabrics and interesting details make this a perfect summer dress.

Models wore their hair in loose low ponytails and the eyes were the focus of the makeup.

I adore each of these looks, especially that leather motorcycle jacket!
