Hola peeps! Happy Friday! The season has officially changed and we won’t be seeing any warm temps until late May or early June here in NYC. During this time we not only need to swap out our clothes but it’s a must that we change our make-up routine as well. I will be the first to admit that I am no beauty guru, however I do know what works for me. Here are some examples of my make-up bag essentials:
1. Lip balm- Don’t get caught with chapped lips on a chilly day.
2. Eyeshadow- A neutral palette is great for fall, it will allow you to play up your lips.
3. Eyeliner- Show off those almond eyes with a great liner. I like for mine to appear bigger than they already are.
4. Coconut oil- This oil isn’t just for keeping fly-aways smooth but it can also be used to moisturize the skin. It is an all natural remedy!
5. Tweezers- You know the saying brows frame the face…make sure they are on point (please arch them according to your face shape).
6. Compact- A mirror is a must for check-ups throughout the day.
7. Lipstick- Deep vampy pouts are all the rage this season and this one is perfect. Pucker up!
8. Bronzer- If you want to keep your summer glow this will do the trick. I am addicted to mine!
9. Perfume- Stay fresh all day with a spritz or two.
10. Mascara- Let those lashes shine and lay it on thick!
There you have it, all the goodies that will get me through the season. Did I leave out anything? Please do tell….share!
Hola! This past weekend I had the honor of being on the Hair Me Out panel at my friend’s (Sade of 1Girl Boutique) event—The Beauty Soiree Part 2. It was held at the New York Foundation for the Arts in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn. The space was filled with lots of fab natural haired ladies and beauty. We had a great time sharing our personal hair stories, talking about products and more. Coming up in another post I will share the video footage but for now take a peek at the pics below. Enjoy!
Ove The Hair Me Out Panel. I was obviously making my point…peep the hands lol.
Celebrity Hair Stylist, Tameeka McNeil-Johnson aka The Curl Whisper doing her magic on an attendees hair. She was using Curl Prep Sweet Buttah. Check her out at http://www.jadedtresses.com
An attendee was selected to get her makeup done by Ketta Vaughn and Eve Chen using Ketta Vaughn cosmetics. They gave her a very fresh, natural looking face—nice!

I’m all smiles…we had a great time!
Crowd control—so much lovely natural hair filled the room!
It was such a fun day! I hope to be able to take part in more events like this in the future. Have you been to any great natural hair or beauty events lately? Or better yet are you planning one? Do tell!
Hola! I hope all is good with you! Today I have a review of the vegan and gluten-free lipstick line–Red Apple Lipstick. They sent me two lipsticks and lipgloss to review. However, before I jump in I wanted to give you a bit of info on the brand if you aren’t familiar with it:
*It is vegan and free of gluten, soy, parabens, allergens and cruelty, as well as other toxins.
*Mineral based which means it can be worn sheer or full-bodied.
*Enriched with Vitamin E for moisture.
*Made in the USA.
Left to Right: Red! 101, Hot Mess, and Sunkissed
As you can see from the pic above the lipsticks are rich in color and the gloss is very shiny (within the package). However if you look below I applied them to my hand and you can see that they all go on very sheer. Remember that they are mineral based so if increase the application the color will deepen and/or appear more creamy. I like that I can control the vibrancy of my lipstick or lipgloss. You can also mix and match to create your own color…fun!
Take of peek of me wearing Red! 101 lipstick, I added a hint of clear gloss for shine. I am not only ecstatic that it is free of toxins but I am so happy that it looks great on. Once applied my lips did not free sticky, it didn’t smell weird and it lasted for a lengthy period of time before I had to reapply. On a scale of 1-10 I give this brand an 8.5 (I want them to add more deep cream colors.) So do you like this color on me? Do tell…
I love this color! It goes on smooth and makes my lips pop!
If you are interested in purchasing a gloss or lipstick from Red Apple Lipstick go here. They also have several lip pencils, lip liners, balm and eyeshadow to choose from. So go check them out today! Please come back and share your experience as well
Hola peeps! If you knew me personally then you would know that I like to keep my beauty routine to a minimum. On any given day I start with clean, flawless skin (in between my breakouts of course haha), BB cream, lipgloss/lipstick and well-groomed brows. However lately I have been giving into makeup; partially because I’ve been attending so many events that I want to glam it up a bit more! Well just in time I was invited to attend Coterie’s Virtual Vanity launch earlier in the week. What is that you may ask?
Coterie is the first beauty social network where you can collect your favorite beauty products in your own vanity. Similar to all other social networks you can share, follow, acquire followers and engage with other members of the community in regards to all things beauty. The launch party was great and we were also gifted some great products by brands that are featured on the site. Take a peek at my goodies!
Stila Prime Pot- in Caramel
Kinara- Nighttime Skin Quencher Exfoliating Hydrator
Chella- Ivory Face Highlighter
Ellis Faas- Milky Lips
Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara- in Pitch Black
Julep- Nail Polish in Oscar
29 Reserves- Lipstick in Sinfully Zin
Some of these brands I have heard of and others are new to me. I cannot wait to dig into these products, especially the lipstick! Thanks to Coterie for creating this beauty network; as I look forward to playing in my own virtual vanity and sharing my faves with everyone. So will you be checking them out? To make it easy on you go here or the link “CO” in my sidebar to the right and get started. Enjoy!
Hola! I don’t know about you guys but I am getting a little sick of the “red lip”. It seems that every blogger, fashionista and young/mature women has been rocking it hard all Fall and Winter. Don’t get me wrong I did too but I am ready to let it go and move forward. Up next—Orange!
I am loving this editorial in the April issue of W Magazine that features Carolyn Murphy with a pouty orange lip. Actually it is called Stay Coral by Estee Lauder and I want it! This cheeky color is perfect for Spring and will look great against neons, florals and neutrals. So will you be ditching your Fall fave and going for Orange? Do tell…
Hola! Can you believe that the fab and always fashionable Iris Apfel is 90? Age is definitely just a number for her as she recently teamed up with MAC cosmetics to launch makeup that reaches the masses of every age group. In the past MAC has collaborated with Lil Kim, Mary J. Blige and Nicki Minaj to name a few; however it is good that they aren’t ageists in any way and relating to all of their customers. Items for your lips, eyes and nails are named after birds and range from $14 to $23. I am loving that fierce red lip that she is rocking. All sounds good to me, will you be checking out the line on January 5th?
For more deets check the source here. Enjoy!
Hola peeps! I hope that you are having a great weekend! Today continues my weekly holiday wish list *until Christmas* and the focus is on Makeup that Shimmers. The items on this list will definitely have you shimmering and shining. However, if you want to blind folks then amp it up and throw on a sequined frock paired with glitter booties *a la Miu Miu* and you will. Enjoy and shimmer on!
Hola! Last Thursday evening I was invited by my friend and beauty blogger Laura of http://lafoutloudbeauty.com to attend a pamper party at the Molton Brown store in Soho. Although I had heard of the brand before I wasn’t at all familiar with the vast amount of services/products that they offered. Skin, hair, body, candles, men, and women products are all offered in the shop; as well as scheduled massages and facials. Their products are very luxurious and definitely stand out amongst other brands that I have tried. At the party we were provided with hand massages, stress reliever temple massages, product info, giveaways, and goodie bags. I had a wonderful time at this event and I do plan a trip back soon to purchase my new fave—Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod lotion!
Much thanks to Laura and Molton Brown for the invite and hosting such a fab event. For more go to www.moltonbrown.com.
I chose this Paradise Pink Pepperpod scent for my hand massage. It was delightful---spicy with a tad of sweetness <3!
I had to snap a pic of her twists...so cute!

As much as I say I don’t want to buy any more summer goods these are making it very hard to resist. Are you still doing summer shopping or have you moved on to Fall? To purchase any of these items go to www.revolveclothing.com. Enjoy!

She is a talented, luxury nail artist with a whole lot of pizzazz! I was even more eager to check her out once I found out that she was collaborating with Sephora **can’t wait for their nail bar to open at the Times Square location**. Check out her work…enjoy!
