Hola! I hope that you all are enjoying your weekend. I had to share this editorial spread of Elle magazine‘s Jan 2014 cover with the gorgeous supermodel Joan Smalls. Most recently she was ranked the world’s number one model by Models.com. Wow…that is such a major accomplishment at the young age of 25!
I am happy to see magazines returning to their roots and putting models on covers instead of celebs, musicians, etc. It also makes me ecstatic that Elle chose a Puerto Rican woman especially since the fashion industry has been getting tons of backlash about overlooking women of color. Scroll down to peek at the fab pics.
Want more? Well head over to Elle.com here to read the full story. Enjoy!
Hola! Happy Friday! Today’s post—Casual Christmas is one of the holiday themed Friday Sass posts that you will see within the next few weeks. I don’t know about you but for some reason I almost always associate plaid with Christmas. It could be the colors or patterns but whatever it is I feel that it’s befitting for the season. Pair the pants with a tough leather moto jacket, sky-high Christian Louboutins and a touch of chic with a Chanel bag. I think that this look is not overly done but just right for the holidays! Do you agree?
Hola! If you haven’t heard of or seen the likes of the beautiful Lupita Nyong’o then you have clearly been living under a rock. She is definitely a rising style and fashionista who can be seen in the famed film ’12 Years a Slave’. Lupita graced the pages of DuJour.com donning fresh threads in shades of white and blue. Go here to read the full article and to get all the deets on the looks. She is simply radiant, don’t you agree?
She is wearing a Hermes bomber jacket, a Roberto Cavalli cotton and crocheted lace maxi dress by Roberto, mini ipanema drop earrings and a Roberto Coin ring.

Hola! If you are in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area next week then you may want to check this out with your little curly. Join in for the book launch of The Adventures of Curly Julie presented by the natural hair author J. L. Greenhill.
WHO is Curly Julie?
“Curly Julie is a little girl with curls experiencing life through the eyes of a little African American girl in America.”
The FREE event will have face painting, games, storytelling and gift bags for the children. I think that this will be a great experience for little girls and boys. Tickets are going fast so go here to rsvp now. Enjoy!
Hola! As “National Stuff Your Face Day” approaches aka Thanksgiving we must plan to wear an outfit that is suitable for the family dinner but can also easily expand at the waist. Well today’s What 2 Wear is here to help you out. Nothing grows with a bulging food belly better than leggings. Usually it is a big no to wear leggings as pants but the exception to the rule is to wear a long shirt to cover your bum. Hence the lovely embroidered cashmere sweater that I have paired with it. This is perfect for the festive holiday and the embroidered neckline doubles as jewelry. Throw on comfy booties in a fall appropriate color and your look is almost complete. The finishing touches are the accessories—pearl earrings, a menswear watch and a large satchel to stuff your leftovers in.
Finito…a perfect look for dinner! Do you agree? So what your plans for Thanksgiving and what are you going to wear? Share!
Hola! Here is why you need to pick up the Dec 2013/Jan 2014 issue of Ladies Home Journal magazine—First Lady Michelle Obama. I mean she just exudes elegance and grace. Now this is a cover done right (take note LUCKY–no shade) because it is simply beautiful!
I must also add that LHJ has really step up their game in the mag world.. Last month I had the opportunity to attend their Get Social conference which was very informative. Don’t sleep on them and go pick up the issue. I definitely plan to. Keep up the good work LHJ!

Hola! Happy Friday! It’s officially the season of
giving shopping and I love it. It is unfortunate that my bank account doesn’t adore my high brow taste level. Well today’s sass—Casually Cool Lust//Must is an example of how I make them work together so I can get what I want. I usually take inspiration from designers (lust) to create my bargain(must) find. You may not get exactly what you want but stores like H&M, Uniqlo, Target and more are great for fashionable finds on a budget.
A cableknit sweater, skinnies, leopard print flats and a big bag is the perfect laid-back weekend outfit. Don’t you agree? As you can see there is no need to go broke to look good because you can always shop on a budget. Why not use the money you save and actually enjoy the weekend. Happy shopping!
Hola! Not to long ago it was announced that Solange x Puma was collaborating on a sneaker line. The fashionista curated The Girls of Blaze collection all while styling true to the Puma athletic spirit. Look out for brightly colored fresh kicks in stores for the holiday season! Take a peek.
I am no sneakerhead but I think that adding a pair of these to my closet my add a bit of pep to my step. What are your thoughts…a go or no?
Hola peeps! Today I’m digging the much-anticipated collaboration between Isabel Marant and H&M. It officially drops tomorrow Nov. 14th although they did have a special press shopping day yesterday (no I didn’t get an invite womp!). If you plan to hit up the store be prepared to wait in line and brave the crowds because I am sure that it will be insanity! However if you can’t tolerate that (I can’t) charge up your laptop, iPad or smartphone and shop online starting at 12 pm. To get you started I created this set with some key pieces from the collection which I am sure to go quick. Happy Shopping!
