Product Review: Deva Curl Set It Free Moisture Lock

Hola!  Welcome to the weekend and it is going to be a hot one (atleast here in the Northeast).  However with heat comes high humidity and you know what that means…..FRIZZ!  I have to say normally I work with my hair and let it take the lead whether it decides to be curly, wavy, kinky, or frizzy–but now that it is growing it seems that the frizz has some serious staying power.  It can be very frustrating from time to time so to try and combat that I picked up Deva Curl Set It Free Moisture Lock at my fave beauty store, Ricky’s for $15.  If you aren’t a NY local then check out their site www.devaconcepts.com or you can purchase on amazon.com

Here’s what the Deva Curl’s site had to say about this product:

Put an end to frizz with this 24-48 hour moisture lock for long-lasting hold. Made with shine-enhancing Beeswax and Olive Oil and scented with zesty lemon-lime.

DevaTip:
For high frizz factor, spray on wet hair, then again on dry hair. Or spray Set It Free in the palms of your hands and scrunch on dry hair

Ingredients:  Aqueous Extracts of: Achilea Millefolium, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Cymbopogon Schoenanthus, Humulus Lupulus (Hops), Melissa Offcinalis (Balm Mint), Rosmarinus Offcinalis (Rosemary), Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Isopropyl Myristate, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkylmethacrylate Copolymer, Ceteareth-20, PVP, Beeswax, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Lipids, Sodium Hydroxide, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance.

Ok, for me this product was about a 5 on a scale of 1-10.  Yesterday was my first time using it so it came out ok and the results were pretty much right on as they stated.  I only gave it a 5 because I think that I would have benefited more had I used it on freshly washed hair.  I was short on time so I only rewet my hair, used my own “refresh spritz mix” and then applied Set It Free.  It did give my hair a very light hold, my curls were definitely popping,  and it did tame the frizz some but not enough. I will say that I will be giving this product another try but I will do it the right way.  As we all know being natural makes us all unique so this may or may not work for you, so please keep that in mind when trying it out. I didn’t take pics this time but with my next go around I will be sure to post them.   Has anyone else tried this or any of the other products in the Deva Curl line?  What do you do to fight frizz, if at all?  Do tell….
